Evidenced Resources for Osteoporosis

Bone density scan (DXA) information

Introduction:

Two resources:

First, a leaflet designed to help people prepare for their bone density scan appointment. This includes important information, such as:

  • What is the scan involves and what to expect
  • How to prepare for the scan

Second, a link to the Royal Osteoporosis Society factsheet information page about bone density scans

These resources were developed as part of the INDEX study at Keele University. The INDEX study explored patient and healthcare professional understanding about bone density scans. Each resource was developed to address common gaps in patient and health professional understanding about bone density scans.
